Aloha, The Pacific Islander and Asian American Ministries 18th National Convocation promises to be full of excitement, spirituality and unique experiences. We have been planning numerous events: Workshops Immersion Tours A Luau Cultural Events Cultural Bible Studies based on the theme “God Lavish Hospitality: PAAM Perspectives” Some of you may be interested in a Pre-PAAM Convocation which will be held on the Big Island on Aug. 13, 2008 at Kua O Ka La public charter school. The cost of registration, food and housing is $30.00. Participants will be sleeping on military cots on wooden floor under a large open covered tent. Please bring a sleeping bag, pillow (if desired), foam pads (if desired), towel, bathing suit, hat, mosquito repellant, water bottle, change of clothes, light jacket. The site is right on the beach next to a public park (Pohiiki) which has showers and a warm spring (warmed by geothermal heat) swimming pond. The school is based at an ancient Heiau (Hawaiian temple) and has a rich Hawaiian history. Planned it a panel for the evening of Wed., August 13, 2008 covering the significance of the site, its history, present situation of the Native Hawaiians (Kanaka Maoli). The adult registration fee for the National Convocation on Oahu is: By May 1st     $100 By July 1st     $120 After July 1st     $150. (the above cost includes Thursday and Friday lunch, Thursday, Friday, Saturday dinner; snacks; ground transportation; conference materials). Then Youth/Young Adult registration fee is $75.00. The planning committee has been informed that both travel and hotel costs are less expensive if booked as a package online (some may also include car rental at a very reasonable price). Persons who rent cars and are willing to help with ground transportation will be reimbursed for mileage.
